When science messes with nature, the outcome is weird

Some of you must have heard of the term GMO(Genetically modified organism). In short GMO are organisms whose genetic material is altered using genetic engineering techniques. Sometimes GMOs are created for good cause but sometimes they have some weird outcome. Checkout some of the amazing and weird GMOs

1 Chickens without feather

1 Chickens without feather

Okay so this is something new although it looks weird. So the news this, the scientists in Israel have created this new breed of featherless chickens, which they claim is environment friendly and can save time on plucking.

2. Frogs from which you can see through

2. Frogs from which you can see through

These are known as “Glass Frogs“, due to their mutation you can see their internal organs, something like their skin is transparent. This help our scientists to know how their internal organs work and other things about them.

3. Golden Seahorse

Golden seahorses.

So the scientists of Vietnam mixed gold dust with proteins of jellyfish and then using genetic engg inserted it in seahorse’s eggs and result was something like above.

4. Lematos

4. Lematos.

Although this was only for experiment purpose where scientists just wanted to check if they can give smell of lemon inside tomatoes, this one looks good.

5. Jake The Alligator man

5. Jake The Alligator man

Don’t worry its just in theory. This specimen is currently placed in Marsh’s Free Museum. However many believed that its just specimen and nothing else but some of them do believe in theory that this one is the result of failed genetic engg which was performed in ancient times. Whatever may be the reason, I really wish this remains in theoryforever and never in real. You can read more about this here.

6. Muscular Bull

6. Muscular Bull
This is breed of beef cattle from Belgium and commonly known as The Belgian Blue. The Belgian Blue is basically supposed to have more meat and reduced fat content.

7. Fishes that glow

7. Fishes that glow

The GloFish is a patented and trademarked brand of genetically modified (GM) fluorescent fish. Dr. Zhiyuan Gong and his colleagues at the National University of Singapore worked with a gene called green fluorescent protein (GFP) in 1999. They inserted this gene into the embryo of zebrafish, which allowed the fish to fluorescent under ultraviolet and normal light. Interesting isn’t it?

8. Colored Carrots

8. Colored Carrots

They not only add more colors to salads but also more calcium. You can read more about this here.

9. Mouse with ear

5.) The mouse with an ear on its back.

This one is knowns as Vacanti MouseIt was laboratory mouse that supposed to have ear grown on his back.

10. Pluots

10. Pluots

So Plums and apricots and combines to create this new fruit called as Pluots. This fruit is delicious and sweet acc to its eaters.
