Okay, let’s face this fact that today how vampires are presented especially in hollywood movies are more fantasy than reality. Their main purpose is to sell tickets and make the movie super duper hit rather than showing the reality, but in that process, the terror of vampires are so what lost somewhere, because now vampires are presented as heroes mostly.
So here are the list of 10 things which modern vampires culture predicts wrong:
1. Vampires can only be killed with a stake.
There is some kind of misconception prevailed everywhere vampires can only be killed by the stake. However, acc to vampire folklore, this is not true. Vampire folklore is ripe with stories of vampire killings where they are cremated normally instead of stake.
2. Vampires have power.
This is another myth which is not true at all, they don’t have any special powers like telepathy, mind control etc. These powers are just created by hollywood movies. There is not traditional basis of these myths.
3. Sunlight
Last night i was watching this movie, Dracula Untold, where this hero just ignores sunlight, as he gets harmed by it and acc to modern theory, vampires get killed in sunlight but believe me there is no such evidence where this theory have been proved.
4. Certain things distract vampires
Some believe that vampires can be repelled by certain things like running water, salt, iron, pepper etc.
5. Vampires can feed themselves even after death.
Another well known practice during Black Death in Europe was to bury the deads with a rock or brick inside their mouth, as they believe they(deadones) will kill others and eat them.
6. Vampires may have children
Opposite to old movies and acc to vampire folklore, vampires can have children as after they woke up from dead the first person they would go is their wife and in due encounters they can have children.
